Telecom sector expected to attract another $700 million investment

The countrys telecom sector is expected to attract another $700 million from both local and international companies planning to lay fibre optic backbone across the country, previously monopolised by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company.

Warid telecom launches project for spreading optical fiber network of 5000km

Warid Telecom here on Monday formally launched a project for spreading optical fiber cable network to 5000 kilometers from Peshawar to Karachi in the country.

General Manager Warid Telecom South Farukh Hayat and Commander FWO Brigadier Falk Sher jointly inaugurated the project of optical fiber network, which will be undertaken by Wateen Telecom, which is affiliated with Al Warid.

The project worth $ 75 million would be carried on in phases, is expected to be completed in December 2006, said Farukh Hayat while addressing the inauguration ceremony.Read More
